An N-benzyl protected piperidine-4-carbaldehyde. Widely used as a key intermediate in the synthesis of donepezil (an Alzheimer's drug) and other piperidine-containing pharmaceuticals. The aldehyde group enables reductive amination, condensation, and other C-C bond forming reactions.
